The Historical museum - Isperih was established in 1978 as a subsidiary of The Regional museum of history - Razgrad and it has been existing as autonomous museum since 21.05.1984. It seeks and carries out research on movable and immovable monuments of culture, it makes them accessible to scientific and educational research, makes treaties for Preservative proceedings of Art and Preservative proceedings of building and realizes investors control to Preservative proceedings of building, organizes permanent and temporary expositions, prepares and publishes scientific, popular and reference publications, provides guides service to visitors of The Historical and Archeological reservation of Sboryanovo.

At the Historical museum - Isperih are kept more than 30 thousand museum units. The ``Archaeology`` fund subsumes finds dated to the neolith and eneolith, the Early Iron and Hellinistic ages, the late antiquity and Middle Ages found at archeological excavations and terrain researches in the region of Ispreih.

In the years after the Liberation of Bulgaria from the Turkish slavery many people from different parts of the country settled the region of Isperih and after the World War I - also settlers from Romanian Dobrudja . The exceptional richness of traditions of life, folklore and ethnic traditions including their reciprocity could be seen in the ethnographic collections of the museum.

The historical-archeological Reserve ''Sboryanovo''

The historical-archeological reserve "Sboryanovo" is situated between the villages Malak Porovetz and Sveshtari of Isperih municipality, in the river Krapinetz canyon and on the hills around. The unique combination of natural elements - water, woods and beneficial soils is attracting people to come and settle at this place from hoary antiquity till nowadays.

First traces of human life in the area date from the end of the Stone Age and the beginning of the ñà îò êðàÿ íà êàìåííàòà è íà÷àëîòî íà Stone-coppers Age.

The population of the Thracian tribes Gets in the early Iron Age the area of "Sboryanovo" becomes a political, cultural and religious center, which develops from the beginning of I millennium before Christ /IÕ-VIII century/ and reaches its bloom during the Hellenistic epoch /IV-III century before Christ/. During this period ends the forming of the center including the city center, âêëþ÷âàùî ãðàäñêè öåíòúð, two necropolis and two sanctuaries.

The residential area of he town is over 100 decares and has a remarkable fortification. It is surrounded with a double fortified wall of width 3,50-4,20 ì and the assumed height is about 10 -12 ì, which follow the area conformation.

From the east and from the west side of the town are situated two large necropolises - the last house of the honored Gets.

The north end of the Eastern burial mound necropolis is thoroughly investigated. Near to one another are placed three stone tombs with half- tubular arch, which were build in the end of IV and the beginning of the III century before Christ. The first one, discovered under the Ginina mound - the Sveshtari tomb, is a unique monument of the Thracian tomb architecture. The extraordinary architecture and picturesque ornaments draw out the Sveshtari tomb in the list of the world cultural-historical heritage of UNESCO.

The rest smaller tombs - ¹12 and ¹13, situated in the south-east of the Ginina mound are not so sophisticatedly decorated like the Sveshtari toms is, but the quality of the construction and the clear lines may compete the best models of the epoch.

The oldest Thracian sanctuary in "Sboryanovo" is placed in the "Kamen rid" area. It is founded in the beginning of the first millennium before Christ and lasted till the beginning of the Hellenistic epoch. About three centuries later /VI century before Christ/ in the deep shady valley at the foot of the "Kamen rid", was founded another sanctuary - of the underground idols, the water and health which existed until the beginning of the new era. The sacrificial rock - altar and the gutters curved into are kept till nowadays by the entrance of the internal yard of Demir baba teke. The huge rock build into the north and the south wall of the tyurbe are remains of the Gets' sanctuary from the same times, and even in the present days the visitors lie down for heath and strength.

In the later times the tradition of the sacred place was extended in a Christian chapel, and in the beginning of the 17th century at the same place was built the tyurbe - a tomb of the alliance saint Demir baba.

The fascination of "Sboryanovo" is not only in the preservation of ancient monuments and living tradition but also in the unique nature which kept unchanged from the antiquity till our present.
