"The exposition of Vastseliina Local Popular Arts Museum consists of fieldwork and household equipment; in addition, the visitor gets a survey how linen and woollen fabric was made, learns about the history of Vastseliina School from 1737 to the present. There is also a collection of ancient musical instruments, unique objects and photos from the home of opera singer Elsa Maasik. The Seto Museum Hut offers a possibility to get acquainted with everyday life of a Seto family from Mokornulga, Obinitsa from the years 1920–1940. The furniture of the museum-room is collected from the nearby villages. The permanent exhibition is designed as a living room that was divided into four corners or sections: eating and working corner, stove and icon corner and a corner for sleeping. The museum has a unique collection of handicraft of Seto women: fine coloured holiday scarves, decorative towels, folk costumes (skirts, scarves and shirts). ” (Estonian Museums)

"This interesting and abundant permanent exposition gives a detailed survey of the history of Vöru County from the Stone Age to the present. The exposition of archaeological findings and ethnographic objects, a Seto hut, a tailor's and shoemaker's workshop, the corner of Kriisa organ masters, a room from a manor house and a partisan's bunker form the interiors of the museum. The Memorial Museum of Dr. Fr. R. Kreutzwald, established on February 10, 1941, is located in Vöru. The exposition was opened in a house built in 1793, where Kreutzwald lived and worked in 1833–1877. The present exposition covers a dwelling house, furnished with objects belonging to Kreutzwald and his family and other items characteristic to the era. The outhouse and barn hold a literary and cultural exposition with particular emphasis on the Estonian national epic “Kalevipoeg”. The former stable and cattle-shed give shelter to a collection of ethnographic items permitting the introduction of Kreutzwald’s stories. There are also a sauna, a vault, a well and a garden on the large plot.
Keeping alive Kreutzwald’s world of ideas and fantasies has been the goal of the museum, supported by the museum hours, poetry-evenings and the plays of Papa Kreutzwald’s Garden Theatre, introducing his life and creation – above all the “Kalevipoeg” and its stories. ” (Estonian Museums) |

"The oldest open-air museum in Estonia lies among the forests of Vöru County. This unique museum, which introduces the country life in the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century is divided into two: a farm complex from the time of czarism and an Estonian farm with lots of exhibition objects. One can work with archaic objects and drill, saw, spin, wash laundry, make a rope, and learn how trees and bushes helped against pain and anger. In addition, farm work learning days like horse days, bread days, sheep days and flax days are held. ” (Estonian Museums)
