The most beautiful karst river in Croatia.
The Krka National Park is a spacious, largely unchanged region of exceptional and multifaceted natural value, and includes one or more preserved or insignificantly altered ecosystems.
It is intended primarily for scientific, cultural, educational, recreational,
and tourism activities such as visiting and sightseeing.
It was proclaimed a national park in 1985 and is the seventh national
park in Croatia.
The Krka National Park is located entirely within the territory of Šibnik-
Knin County and encompasses an area of 109 square kilometers along
the Krka River: two kilometers downriver from Knin to Skradin and the lower part of the Èikola River.
From the flooded part of the mouth, it is 72.5 kilometers in length,
making the Krka the 22nd longest river in Croatia.
The source of the Krka River is at the base of the Dinaric Mountains, 3.5 kilometers northeast of the base of Knin and 22 meters below Topoljski Slap, Veliki Buk and Krèiæ Slap, which are noisy cascades in the winter but run dry during the summer.
The length of the freshwater section of the river is 49 kilometers and that
of the brackish section is 23.5 kilometers.
Significant tributaries of the Krka River include Krèiæ, Kosovèica,
Orašnica, Butišnica and Èikola with Vrb.
With its seven travertine waterfalls and a total drop of 242 meters,
the Krka River is a natural and karstic phenomenon.

In the central part of croatian Adriatic Sea, about 15 Nm to the west from Sibenik town, 7 Nm to the southwest from Murter, or 15 Nm to the south from Zadar town, there is amazing group of islands named Kornati archipelago.
Beauty and singularity of the archipelago moved authorities in 1980 to proclaim a bigger part of that area national park. Since then certain modifications of its borders were made, so that nowadays Kornati National Park occupies the area of about 220 km2 (54.000 acres). There are 89 islands, islets and reefs within the area of Kornati National Park (238 km of the coastline), what makes it the most indented group of islands in the Mediterranean.
The land part of Kornati National Park covers less than 1/4 of its total area, but the values of its landscapes, the "crowns" (cliffs) on the islands facing the open sea, and interesting relief structures, make this part of Kornati National Park unique. Besides, the Kornati submarine area, whose biocenosis are considered to be the richest in the Adriatic Sea, and also the magnificent geomorphology of the sea bed attracts divers from all over Europe to come and enjoy in unforgettable submarine adventures.
VISITOR RECEPTION CENTER 1: Zakan Harbor on the Island of Ravni Zakan (southeastern part of the Park)
VISITOR RECEPTION CENTER 2: Vruje Bay on the Island of Kornat (northwestern part of the Park)

"The outstandingly rich history and cultural heritage of Nin prompted experts to investigate, collect and keep objects, particularly in the 18th century. The idea for the ongoing collection of museum objects and preservation of monuments in Nin was put forward by Mihovil Glavinić at the end of the 19th century, when he placed monuments in the Church of Holy Cross. This practice was later continued by Luka Jelić, who in 1910 organised and opened the first collection of stone monuments in the Church of Holy Cross entitled “Antiquarian Collection”. In 1958-1959, the stone monuments from Holy Cross were moved to a building in Trg Kraljevac, which had been allocated to the Archaeological Museum in Zadar for the exhibition and keeping of monuments. It was from then that the many years of concern for and the whole supervision of the museum over the collection in Nin started; the exhibition was opened to the public in 1960 under the title of the Nin Regional Collection, the being changed in 2004 to the Collection of Nin Antiquities. With the contemporary new museological display, produced during the 1999 to 2004 period in the architecturally related museum complex, the history of Nin is shown in chronological order from the earliest times to the destruction of the city in 1646." Telascica Nature Park

Telascica bay is situated in the central part of the eastern Adriatic coast, in the SE part of the island of Dugi otok. Thanks to its extreme beauty, richness and importance, this bay surrounded by 13 islands and islets, together with 6 islets inside the bay of Telašæica itself, was proclaimed the Nature Park in 1988. Thanks to its exceptionally valuable plant and animal life, geological and geomorphological phenomena, valuable colonies of the sea bottom and interesting archaeological heritage this area became protected in 1980.
The area of "Telašæica" Nature Park is distinctly contrasted area with quiet and peaceful beaches and laid down coastline on one side and wild and rough cliffs on the other. It is the area of the Aleppo pine-trees and holly oak woods on one side and bare rocky grounds on the other. It is the area of cultivated fields of vineyards and olive-trees, as well as the area of degraded forms of the flora covering dry habitats.
Three basic phenomena are certainly the main characteristics of the Nature Park: the unique bay of Telašæica as one of the safest, the most beautiful and the largest havens on the Adriatic that includes 25 small bays and 69 km of the well-indented coastline, the cliffs of the island of Dugi otok or so-called «Stene», rising up to 200 m above the sea level and falling down vertically up to 90 m below the sea level, and finally the salt lake called «Mir» with its curative characteristics.
The island of Katina must be mentioned as one of the most picturesque islands in the Adriatic , but the most unusual is certainly the island of Taljuriæ.
Beautifully cultivated meadows and hillsides are rich with Mediterranean vegetation with more than 300 species of flora and equally rich fauna. The undersea world has more than 250 plant and 300 animal species.
Telašæica has been inhabited since ancient times, as can be seen from Roman remains in Mala Proversa and numerous pre-Romanesque churches. The oldest document about fishing trade dates from the end of the 10 th century and it shows that the fishing trade in Croatia began on these coasts.
In the Nature Park it is possible to dive on a few attractive locations next to the cliffs, walk along the paths and visit interesting places, and the panoramic view from the belvedere Grpašæak is something that must not be missed.
