The Tram and Bus museum is located on the premises of the City Bus department in Hollerich. The visitor comes across exhibits such as a historical horse-drawn coach, old tramway carriages and models of buses as well as historical uniforms. Numerous photos and documents illustrate the developments of city transportation since 1875.

Während der deutschen Besatzung (von 1942 bis 1944) war der ehemalige Bahnhof von Hollerich Ausgangspunkt zahlreicher zwangsrekrutierter Jugendlicher und von 4000 Menschen, die aus politischen Gründen in die östlichen Teile Deutschlands "zwangsumgesiedelt" wurden und dabei ihr gesamtes Hab und Gut in Luxemburg verloren.
Im Inneren des Gebäudes wurde in den 1990er Jahren eine Ausstellung eingerichtet, die vor allem das Schicksal der zur Wehrmacht zwangsrekrutierten jungen Männer und der 1.300 Familien zeigt, die nach Ostdeutschland zwangsumgesiedelt wurden. Sie enthält auch einige Informationen über die Deportation der Juden aus Luxemburg. Am 31. August 1942 führte Gauleiter Gustav Simon die Wehrpflicht für junge Männer der Jahrgänge 1920 bis 1924 (später bis 1927) ein. In den folgenden Monaten sollten etwa 10.200 junge Männer eingezogen werden, und der erste Zug, der sie in die deutschen Kasernen brachte, verließ Luxemburg (Hauptbahnhof) am 18. Oktober 1942. Da die Abfahrt des ersten Zuges eine Gelegenheit für neue Proteste bot, beschlossen die Deutschen, die Züge vom Bahnhof Hollerich abfahren zu lassen oder Züge aus dem Norden des Landes direkt nach Deutschland zu leiten. |

Living history of the city
This museum brings the capital’s more than one thousand years of history to life: “The Luxembourg Story” is a permanent exhibition that shows the development of the city through countless original artefacts and models, some of them incorporating multimedia animations. The new UNESCO Visitor Centre fits in perfectly here and continues the same historic theme, while two further floors of the museum house temporary exhibitions. The Lëtzebuerg City Museum is housed in four historic buildings which were built between the 17th and 19th centuries, in some cases on medieval foundations. A special highlight is the vast glass lift that can carry up to 65 people at a time along the ancient walls inside the museum. |

The Musée d'Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean, located at the remarkable Fort Thüngen site - which testifies with a singular voice to the oftentimes violent history of our capital - will be completed by the beginning of the 21st, century. Everything possible is being done to ensure that, in step with the Grand Duchy and the city of Luxembourg, the Museum fulfils its international calling. It will be a cultural centre in the true sense of the term: a place where art is shown and culture is produced. Luxembourg is situated at the cross-roads of cultures and peoples; the Museum will be a place where art currents and cross-currents meet.

Inaugurated in 1995, the Bank Museum - situated in the former teller hall of the head office of Banque et Caisse d'Epargne de l'Etat - stretches out on 600 qm.
The exposed items as well as the interactive terminals of the Bank Museum provide the visitors with an inside look into the banking profession and allow them to discover BCEE's history, it's contribution to the economic development of Luxembourg and the services the Bank offers today as a precursor of the financial sector. The Museum is composed of 11 thematic areas including a dealing room and a projection room. The subjects of the films shown in the Bank Museum are Luxembourg, the financial centre, the BCEE Savings Events for schools and the most spectacular bank robberies of the 20th century. The museum displays objects from more than 150 years of Luxembourg's postal history. Different telecommunications equipment, a morse telegraph line and a manual telephone switchboard are kept in working order. An original stage-coach (1880), a richly-carved counter and many former postman's uniforms create a nostalgic atmosphere. Philatelists will be glad to discover a precious collection of Luxembourg stamps, and may complete their albums at the philatelic counter within the museum.

The Forum for Contemporary Art is organising throughout the yearexhibitions on today's art, insisting on the diversity and the complexity of new artistic tendencies. The 13 rooms of the restored historical building are used in such a way that various exhibitions can take place simultaneously, accompanied by a rich cultural programme, ranging from general guided tours and thematic tours, conferences and round tables, to concerts with contemporary music.
