"Inaugurated in 1988, the museum aims to acquaint Israelis with Far Eastern art and the work of Israeli artists who studied in the Far East. Its permanent collection of some 1,500 items displayed within a 400 square-metre area comprises mainly art objects from China and Japan, dated from the 13th to the 20th centuries, and based on the collection of the late Yechiel Nahari. Special collections focus on Qing-dynasty China (1644-1912) and Meiji Japan (1868-1911). The museum offers workshops on Japanese art, Japanese language courses, guided activities for schoolchildren and adults and special events pertinent to the temporary exhibitions."
