Sammelschwerpunkte/Main collections
This beautiful house was a cultural center of the 1920's and 1930's.
Johannes Buchholtz was a famous writer, a railway employeer and a cultural activist in Struer from 1902 - 1940. His house in Struer is most probably the best preserved interior of the 1920's and 1930's in Denmark, and is futhermore a very characteristic home of an artist. The house shows many artistic proofs of frequent visits from the great writers and painters of that time. Johannes Buchholtz' great love for antique furniture, old clocks and his funny ideas is seen everywhere in the house. The wall are painted in the characteristic ultramarine colour.

Sammelschwerpunkte/Main collections
Skive Art Museum is housed in a building from 1942, designed by the architect Leopold Teschl. The house is shared with Skive Museum, which is the local historical museum.
The art museum's collection of modern Danish art emphasizes Expressionism, with works by Jens Søndergaard, Asger Jorn, Svend Wiig Hansen, Per Kirkeby, Doris Bloom and Anders Moseholm. Expressionistic landscapes are a unifying theme in this part of the collection. Other leading artists among the classical Danish modernists are also represented: Vilhelm Lundstrøm, Olaf Rude, Franciska Clausen, Richard Mortensen and Robert Jacobsen. The museum also owns collections of three artists from the region around Skive: Christen Dalsgaard (1824-1907), Hans Smidth (1839-1917) and Emilie Demant Hatt (1873-1958).
One of the museum's other specialities is its neo-realistic collection, who’s works of art bear resemblance to reality: paintings by e.g. Niels Strøbæk, Jørgen Geisted, Jørgen Boberg and Poul Anker Bech. Many visitors are especially fascinated by the large painting of Carsten Svennson, "Gaia", which is a fantastic vision of human life on Mother Earth.
Please notice that because of lack of space only a small part of the collection is available to the museum guests. If you are interested in studying selected works, please call in advance and we will try to make an arrangement.
The museum offers 3-5 temporary exhibitions every year. When a special exhibition is on, the permanent collection might not be available at all. Please ask for an exhibition plan before visiting the museum - or go to Udstillinger to see what is on right now.
