The only forest museum in North Latvia, Kirbizi Forest Museum, is housed in the 18th -19th century barn of Kirbizi Manor. The four exhibition halls display the varied flora and fauna of the vicinty: protected plants, hunting trophies, stuffed animals and birds, as well as a vast collection of forestry tools. "The museum collection is comprised of historical items relating to the township of Salacgriva and the surrounding area that once belonged to the Salaca and SvÁtciems parishes. The collection focus is on shore fishing and the fisher-folk of the Vidzeme beaches and Salaca, and the activities of raftsmen in the Salaca river until the mid 1950s. A collection of postcards and photographs of Salacgriva up until 1940 is being developed.
The permanent exhibition, ‘‘Fishing Tackle and Methods’‘ allows each visitor to try their hand at ancient pastimes. The visitor can weave a rag-rug on an old loom or learn to comb wool. Exhibitions of art are organised in the new temporary exhibition space.
The Salacgriva Museum, built in 1989, is located on the foundations of the town's society hall. The Museum was founded in 1998. ‘‘ (Latvian Museum Association)

"The life stories of three poets - Fricis Barda (1880-1919), Paulina Barda (1890-1993) and Antons Barda (1891-1981) - are displayed in ‘‘Rumbini’‘.

In 1968, after a long period of denial and opression, a memorial room was opened in the country house ‘‘Darzini’‘, built by the poet Fricis Barda and where Paulina Barda spent many of her summers. In 1993 after restoration work in the old Barda family house, their new memorial museum was opened. Visitors are welcome to view exhibitions in the dwelling-house, barn, granary and the poet's summer cottage. The ancient objects used daily by the Barda family members provide information about the social environment the poets lived in and life on an ordinary Vidzeme farmstead in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The collection contains 5 852 items. ‘‘ (Latvian Museum Association)

In 1987 the writer Karlis Skalbe's summer cottage ‘‘Saulrieti’‘ was opened to the public as a museum dedicated to his life and creative activity. Skalbe's family lived in ‘‘Saulrieti’‘ during the summers of 1926-1944. The architecture of the house with its unusually large windows on the west side, the spacious sitting room with a high ceiling, wooden columns and a fireplace are reminiscent of Karlis Skalbe's fascinating fairytales. Opposite the house, on Vaktskalns (the Guardhill), are the Skalbe family graves, where the writer, his wife and daughter's ashes are buried. The view of Lake Alauksts from Saulrieti is one of the most picturesque scenes in Piebalga. ‘‘ (Latvian Museum Association)
