The Ignacy Lukasiewicz Petroleum Industry Museum at Bobrka is the world's unique heritage park. In the second half of the 19th century, on this tiny piece of Polish. soil, petroleum industry was born, giving great impetus to the development of the modern industrial era.
It is unquestionable that the father of this industry was Pole, Ignacy Lukasiewicz. Although in this epoch of rapid acceleration, new products and technologies replace their predecessors at quicker and quicker pace, old plants, machines, equipment and documents testify to the continuity of the scientific and technological progress. At the same time, they constitute the output of several generations of scholars and industrialists and as such deserve care and protection.
The idea was to collect all these-pieces of equipment, buildings and documents in one place in one place to protect them from destruction and oblivion. Thus, the initiative of organizing a museum-was born.
No better place could have been found to implement the idea than the grounds of the world's oldest, and still operating oil plant at Bobrka. The place had old-time buildings, genuine pieces of machinery and equipment as well as the documents testifying to the origins and history of petroleum industry.
