Just over three kilometres west of Torekov is Hallands Väderö, an island surrounded by a host of small islets. The island is a cultural treasure and a haven for nature lovers. In the spring the forests are lit up by wood anemone in full bloom, and the summer months offer delightful bathing. This is the forest where Ronia and Birk became friends for life, in Astrid Lindgren's ‘Ronia the Robber's Daughter'. Väderö is exotic and stimulates feelings of freedom and excitement. The boat to the island leaves from Torekov, and the journey is an experience in itself. The museum in Kappelhamn and the little cafe in Sandhamn are two ‘musts' on your trip to Väderö.

Sammelschwerpunkte/Main collections
Malmö Konsthall was opened in 1975 and is one of Europe’s largest exhibition halls for contemporary art. Architect Klas Anshelm has created an exhibition hall with great flexibility, generous space and fantastic light. The construction materials are light and simple: concrete, glass, wood and aluminium. Most of the gallery has a ceiling constructed like a latticework of 550 domes with both natural and artificial light sources. The height of the ceiling varies. The light well - with the higher ceiling - has a big sloping skylight towards the north. Klas Anshelm got inspiration for the construction when visiting the sculptor Constantin Brancusi in his Paris studio. The result is a gallery that is both functional and aesthetic. An exhibition space that presents the artist with endless possibilities.

Malmö Konsthall arranges exhibitions with an international focus which encompasses both the classics of modern art and current experiments.

Sammelschwerpunkte/Main collections
Malmöhus Castle is the oldest remaining Renaissance castle in Scandinavia and was originally built as a citadel in 1434 by Eric of Pomerania. Parts of it still survive to this day although the main building dates back to the 16th century. In the 18th and 19th centuries it was used as a prison and, following restoration work in 1937, the castle became part of the Malmö Museer (Malmö Museums). Today, the Art Museum, the City Museum and the Natural History Museum can all be found in the historical buildings. But the name Malmö Museer stands for several other places, for example the Technology and Maritime House and several others are also situated in the vicinity of the castle, or elsewhere in Malmö and its surroundings.

By 1931 the restored castle was ready to be handed over to the City of Malmö, resplendent once again in its 16th-century glory. The first phase of the new museum opened in 1932. Meanwhile, work continued to construct modern museum buildings on the other three sides of the courtyard.
The winner of the architectural competition was Carl Axel Stoltz. His new museum buildings were ceremonially opened by Crown Prince Gustav Adolf in 1937, since when the castle has been an integral part of the Malmö museums. The Knights´ Hall was initially used as a prestige venue for official dinners, and the state rooms housed exhibits from the museum´s collection. At the end of the Second World War, the museum closed for several months to look after released prisoners from the concentration camps. The state rooms now display furniture and paintings in the Renaissance and baroque styles, giving visitors an idea of how the castle may have looked in the 16th and 17th centuries.
