The A. Kmet' Museum in Martin is focused on the history of the Slovak Museology Society and its leading personalities, with the emphasis on A. Kme?, the history of Slovak museology and the history of the cultural centre of Slovaks in Martin. It operates in multi-regional area and in the region of Turec, where it fulfils the function of a regional geographic and history museum. The profile of the A. Kmet' Museum is also reflected in its collection stores. Collections of a natural science character from the times of A. Kmet' until the present prevail; similarly interesting and rare are also the collections of social-science nature. The most precious comprise monuments related to the operation of A. Kmet', but also for example the collections of the Révajov Gallery, etc. The Museum of A. Kmet' is situated in the first building of the Slovak National Museum – the national cultural monument, to the construction of which contributed in significant scope the founder of the Slovak museology, Andrej Kmet'.
