"Unique in Moscow is a museum located in a gallery of an operating church. The basis are objects telling the history of the creation of the church – which actually is a monument of honour regarding the victory in the Patriotic war of 1812, its role and value for daily life of Russia." (Russian Museumss, corrected)
"The exposition of the Museum is situated in 4 halls. Its historical part tells about the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour – a national sacred object which was destroyed on 5th of December 1931. The cathedral- symbol of military glory dedicated to the victory over Napoleon was renovated for the spiritual rebirth of Russia.
At the exposition there are materials dating from the war against Napoleon (1812), George standard, uniform and equipment of that epoch. Among the documents telling about the creation of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour you can see the manifesto of Imperator Alexander I. You can imagine how the Cathedral looked like at that time through the pictures by famous painters such as A. Kutepov, K. Ton, A. Vitberg, G. Kvarengi. «Christmas» by V.Vereschagin and fragments of the fresco “The Last Supper” by G. Semiradsky also entered the exposition of the Museum. One of the departments of the exposition is dedicated to the Soviet period in the history of the Cathedral. You can see the photos, telling about the destroying of the Cathedral in 1931. On the place of the Cathedral it was decided to build the Palace of Congress and you have got an opportunity to get acquainted with the photos of the projects of that Palace. The third part of the exposition tells about the story of renovating of the Cathedral’s interior. You can see the natural materials, samples of Russian and Italian marble, details of the Main Iconostasis, model of the Cross of the main dome. There is also a collection of the gifts for the 850th anniversary of Moscow with the depicting of the Cathedral in them. You can see also different objects of church articles and vestments.
At the end of the exposition you can see the unique historical documents about the opening of the Cathedral and ceremonial divine service at the Cathedral on the 7th of January 2000. There are about 300 exhibits at the Museum of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. In 2004 its collection was fulfilled with the exhibits coming from the former destroyed Cathedral of Christ the Saviour." (Museum Webpage, corrected)

"The Polytechnical museum in Moscow is one of the oldest ones among technical museums all over the world. It was opened on December 12th, 1872. The large building with its original architecture, situated in the center of the city, is one of Moscow's places of interest. The museum was planned by Russian scientists, professors of the Moscow University just after the abolition of serfdom in Russia. There were a lot of people who took part in the creation of the museum — scientists, members of governments and Moscow Duma, merchants, entrepreneurs and ordinary Moscow citizen. The city presented the site for the museum in the center and donated part of the necessary sum of money for design and construction of the museum building. A large part of the needed money came from the state budget, the rest was donated by tradesmen. The Polytechnical Museum was patronized by the royal family. The spirit of the museum was created by the Russian intelligentsia of that time (end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th century), those who become famous in history of our country.
The Polytechnical Museum foundation was set up by organization of a great Polytechnical exhibition that was opened in Moscow on May 30th, 1872 and was devoted to the 200th anniversary of Peter the Great. After closing the exhibition at the end of 1872, part of the exhibits became the basis of the Polytechnical Museum's collection.
Now the Polótechnical Museum is the largest technical museum in the country. It keeps more than 160,000 objects, its galleries occupy about 10,500 sqm. A lot of exhibits are on display there, many of them are unique memorials of science and technology. There are many models and dioramas in the museum. Visitors can see how a TV set, a mine and a blast furnace plant work. They can meet a robot-guide, see fascinating holograms or play with a home computer." (RussianMuseums, corrected)
