"On January 1, 1998 Lithuanian President's K. Grinius memorial museum was founded in the house where Kazys Grinius lived in 1904-1914.
This house became the center of cultural movement of the whole Uznemune and was called "Griniai House". The first in the area public performance "America in a bathhouse" was shown in the house on May 28, 1905, meetings and rehearsals of the choir took place.
A society "Sviesa" ("Light") with a lot of branches in Suvalkija and a library of the society were established in "Griniai house".
The greatest part of the collection comprises photographs, books, documentary material connected with K. Grinius' and his family 's life and activity." (Museums of Lithuania)

"In 1930 the Marijampole Province Council allotted funds for a museum’s establishing and formed an organizing committee for this purpose. In autumn of 1933 the museum SODZIUS was opened.
In 1948 the museum SODZIUS was reorganized into the Museum of Ethnography and in 1950 it moved to other premises in the Laisves Street.
In 1964 the Museum moved to the present premises. With the passage of time the Museum enlarged, its exposition being continuously updated.
The museum contains archaeological, numismatic, and ethnographic exhibits, as well as documents, photographs and applied arts." (Museums of Litauania)

"The museum was founded in the birthplace of scientist and medical doctor Jonas Basanavicius (1851-1927) - the patriarch of Lithuanian national revival, signatory of the February 16, 1918 Independence Act, and the founder, publisher and editor of the first Lithuanian newspaper "Ausra".
The exhibition displays photocopies of his manuscripts and personal documents, photographs and books.

"The museum contains numismatics and archaeological collections, documents, maps, calendars, photographs, antique household articles, and works by folk artists.
114 765 items are kept in the stock of the museum.
Valuables of the nature of the land (geology, flora and fauna), archaeology, history, ethno-culture, fine and applied arts, folk art, memorial material on famous people of the land and its emigrants are accumulated and kept in the museum.
Collections of calendars, philately, textbooks, numismatics are being formed.
According to their type valuables of the museum are classified into 12 groups and 72 subgroups. Those are archaeological finds, natural objects, documents, valuable things, photo-documentary material, numismatics, bonistique, philately and philocarty, the written language, works of art, posters and film archives, photo-archives." The museum was founded in 1965 in Vincas Kudirka's (1858-1899) family farmstead.
The museum became branch museum in 1995.
An exhibition commemorating the leader of the national movement, the author of the Lithuanian national anthem, writer, publicist, translator and doctor Vincas Kudirka, has been mounted in a former granary (built in 1867). The most cherished exhibit is a violin, which once belonged to V. Kudirka.
