The Museum of Trade was opened in 1983 when the Ministry of Trade and Turism set up a Documentation Centre. The Museum of Trade as self-standing unit came into being on January 1, 1991.
The museum is housed in a building of the mid-18th cent. on the orders of the finance supervisor of the Bratislava archiepiscopal estate Juraj Albert. It is a rural manor with a park rebuilt and enlarged in the 2nd half of the 19th cent.

The Museum of Trade collects, protects and introduces material documents and writings on the development of trade, catering and tourism within Slovakia.
