After 30 years the ancient royal town of Kadan has regained its Museum, located now in the former Franciscan Monastery that dates back to the 15th century. The exhibition galleries display in two tours treasures of local mineral resources and present many interesting historical objects and facts.

The bishopric supported the interest of the town of Kadan in utilization of the Monastery and entered into a long-term contract in 1995 that resulted in a complete restoration of the premises (1995 – 2003). This restoration project, funded largely from the state and the municipal budgets, was included by the Ministry of Culture in the Restoration Programme for the Architectural Heritage of the Czech Republic. In compliance with a government resolution the Franciscan Monastery in Kadan was listed as a National Cultural Monument. At the same time of autumn 1995 the pilgrimage Church of the Annunciation of Our Lady and Fourteen Holy Helpers came to continue its forcibly interrupted religious tradition, it was consequently reconsecrated and the Mass reinstated. In 1999 the Kadan Museum exhibition tour of mineralogy, geology, archaeology and the history of mining in the region was installed in the medieval cellars and opened to the public. In one of the Monastery buildings Kadan Primary School of Art found its new seat and has been based since September of 1999. In May 2004 the exhibition tour of the history of the Franciscan Monastery in Kadan was launched together with the first stages of systematic restoration of the Monastery interior.
