"The museum was founded in 1990. Founder of the museum is Culture Ministry of Lithuania.
Museum’s collection
The museum contains collections of metrological instruments, old calendars, and works of fine art on the subject of the cosmos.
Exhibition:
Ethnic Relations with Universe
This part of exposition reveals relations between Man and Universe through folk art, ornamentation, mythology and systems for perception of space and time.
Systems for Measuring of Space
This part of exposition displays ancient systems for space measuring (volume, length, weight, pressure, temperature etc.) and instruments. It tells as well about metrology investigated at the old Vilnius University, origin of the unified measure system, as well as present measures and measuring units.
Systems for Time Measuring and Calendars
This part of exposition reflects methods and devices for time measuring, calendar systems (those of Sun and Moon), calendar rituals and customs.
Scientific Relation with Universe
The visitor is acquainted with astronomy, astronautics, astrology, programs SETI and UFO.
Relations through Art, Religion, Philosophy
Various works of art are displayed reflecting the Creator’s relation to Universe as well as exhibits depicting the scientific and ethnic relation to Universe.
Cultural, educational activity
The museum arranges amateur astronomical observations, lectures, seminars and calendar festivals for its visitors. " (Museums of Lithuania)
