Sammelschwerpunkte/Main collections
Pelhrimov has paid tribute to its famous natives by establishing the Commemoration Hall of the Lipský Family, which was set up in the ground-floor premises of house No. 10 (the so-called Šrejnarovský dum – House of the Šrejnar Family) in Masarykovo Square. Of the Lipský family most people remember especially Oldrich Lipský, the director, and his brother Lubomír, the actor, but a lot of work for the theatre and television has also been done by other members of this famous dynasty of artists.
The exhibition is divided into 3 parts. The first one gives information about the Lipský brothers´ lives and work, about their doings in Pelhrimov and it maps their theatre activities starting with their acting in the local amateur theatre company “Rieger” and continuing with their work in “Divadlo satiry (The Satirical Theatre)” up to Lubomír´s acting in Prague theatres. Here you can also see magazine and newspaper articles and reviews of their works.
The second part of the exhibition is devoted to movie-making, you will visit a cinema where you can see a cut of the Lipský brothers´ best-known movie scenes. You will watch a sequence of scenes and roles which are well remembered by most viewers, including the excellent monologue of the alchemist interpreted by Lubomír Lipský in the film “Císaruv pekar (Emperor´s Baker)”. Here you can get acquainted with all the prizes that Oldrich Lipský´s films have been awarded, you can see shots from making some movies and movie posters.
The third part is named after the film “Velká filmová loupez (The Great Film Robbery) “ made by O. Lipský. It is similar to the film in the way you can enter the stories of the most famous films by the Lipský brothers. It is possible to send plums like Mr.Hujer in “Marecku, podejte mi pero (Mr. Marecek, Pass Me the Pen, Please)”, enter a circus top and try some tricks of Cibulka the clown in “Šest medvedu s Cibulkou (Six Bears with Cibulka the Clown)” or to get around the zoophagous flower Adéla in a safe distance because you do not know if it has had dinner already or not yet (“Adéla ješte nevecerela – Adéla Has Not Had Dinner Yet”). Here you can also open the door to get as frightened as John Camel in “Ctyri vrazdy stací, drahoušku (Four Murders Are Enough, Darling)” or try the features of the magic presents from “Tri veteráni (Three Veterans)”. Of course we cannot disclose everything because you may experience a lot more adventures here. Visiting the Commemoration Hall of the Lipský Family may be a delightful event for children as well as for adults and every visitor to this exhibition shall certainly keep a piece of wisdom and joy that members of this dynasty have spread around themselves and are doing so even now.

This projects has been realised with financial help from the Vysocina Fund.

Thanks to collectors and makers of all possible and impossible things, an unrivalled collection unseen anywhere else in the world has been gathered in the five newly reconstructed storeys of the exhibition. Come and visit the world of mini-sized as well as giant objects, strong men and tumblers, makers of endless puzzles and dare-devils jumping to fall 80 metres deep.

Sammelschwerpunkte/Main collections
A castle in the Late Classicist style, situated in the middle of the town, with remains of the original castle from the 13th century. It was re-built in the mid 16th century and again 1580-1583, with the tower above the gate completed in 1744. At the beginning of the 19th century the castle was rebuilt by the grandfather of Rainer M. Rilke, F. Rilke. Jakub Rudolf Geymüller was behind a major rebuilding project in the Classicist style in the years 1839-1842, when the castle finally lost its Renaissance character. From 1945 the castle served as a convalescent home for children. The castle is surrounded by an English-style park with an ancient linden tree, its age being estimated between seven or eight hundred years, which gave the town its name.

The children’s convalescent home closed in 1998 and the administration of the castle was transferred to the MDA in Prague. The castle is considered to be an important heritage site, and with its new purpose in view, it was necessary to start a major rebuilding programme.

The examination of the structure from the historical point of view in 1998-1999 was conducted by leading expert Jirí Skabrada, the research will first of all clarify various historical stages of the architecture. Attention is focused mainly on the early period, namely the medieval stronghold of the lords of Kamenice.
A large Renaissance hall in the eastern wing, and a substantial Gothic hall have been traced, the latter was used until recently as a boiler room.

The castle was opened for the public on July 2004 with a permanent display of decorative ironwork from the Middle Ages to the 20th century from the collections of the MDA. A study room with collections of 19th and 20th centuries furniture and design is also planned.
