The old forge, built in the 1790s, was in the continued occupation of one family - the Pearces. They operated here until 1966, after which time it was converted for use as an artist's studio.
The Heritage and Information Centre opened in 2004. In addition to the permanent exhibition, specific exhibits will be set-up on an annual basis.
The history of the parish is illustrated with displays depicting Farming through the Ages, the Fishing Industry, Education, Domesday Book entries, the Manors, World Wars, Coastguards, Churches, Chapels and much more.Illustrated by photographs, tithe maps, documents, parish records and other artefacts.
For those with an interest in family history there is a database containing the baptisms/christenings, marriages and deaths/burials of more than 11,500 parishioners. Indexes are also available for St Gerrans and St Anthony parishes covering, marriages, burials and a churchyard plan. The 1841 - 1901 census has also been indexed.

We are also open on most Sunday mornings (9 - 12) throughout the year.

Suitable footwear should be worn due to the uneven floors and some steep stairs.

King Edward Mine Museum is 1½ mile from Camborne Station, Cornwall, TR14 9DP, UK.
For SatNav purposes, the postcode plus any number in the 50-64 range for the number in the street will direct you to the row of cottages opposite the junction with Newton Road.
The museum can also be reached by taking the Camborne/Pool exit off the A30 and following the brown signs to Troon (National Grid Reference 6645 3890).

The exhibits in the museum tell the remarkable story of how this mine has survived almost intact for over 100 years.

The reason why this remarkable site has been preserved is because King Edward Mine was used as a teaching facility for the Camborne School of Mines for almost 100 years.

The visitor is shown how the mine complex developed and then is taken on a guided tour of the mill to see much of the rare equipment in use as it would have been in the early 1900s. Much of the machinery in the mill (where tin ore is processed) is amongst the last of its kind in the world. The museum is also a valuable resource for local schools.
