„On the peninsula Ölmanäshalvön's south western tip is Näsbokrok nature reserve. It has the typical coastal landscape which is so common in Halland with heather meadows, flat rocks and rubble-stone fields. In the marshy parts there is a great variety of plants. At the very tip there are 8 cairns from the Bronze Age (1500 - 500 B.C.), of which the largest is 20 metre in diameter and 3 metres tall." (www.halland.se)

Tjolöholm was purchased in 1892 by the affluent Göteborg merchant James Frederick Dickson. His previous property Onsala was not enough pasture for the excellent horses he bred. On Tjolöholm he could create an environment more favorable to his stud and establish itself as the sign of his wealth and his Scottish background. 1897 James Frederick Dickson and his wife, Blanche - who was his cousin - launched an architectural competition for a castle to be in Elisabethan style. The Tudor-style, dating from the British Islands in 1500, was alien to the Swedish architects.
The mission to draw the castle was entrusted to the 27-year-old architect Lars Israel Wahlman (1870-1952). James Frederick Dickson namely died shortly after the construction works have started, as a result of blood poisoning which incurred as a result of winding stanniol from a bottle on a damaged finger.
The castle was completed in 1904, after 6 years of construction work and many controversies between client and architect. The palace had the look af an ordinary stone villa
The House plan form is characterized by the English tradition. But enclosed in the structure are modern inventions - from showers to heating system.

The buildings were erected in 18th and 19th century and remained at its original location despite reforms during the 1800s. The oldest buildings are from the early 1600s. The village location on the crest of a wooded height is characteristic of older foundings. Take a walk in the beautiful area around the village and enjoy the countryside. Here is now a restoration of the land after the great land reform of 1825. On the field old landrace varieties of barley, oats, rye and flax are growing. During the summer animals of older native breeds around the village (skogsfår and fjällnära fjällkor) are grazing and in the village are Linderöd Pigs and Åsbohöns.
History
Äskhults village was mentioned already in the 1600s in a document issued in Kungsbacka, where the names of the four farm owners is reported. The village history can be traced back to the Bronze Age to about 2700 years ago. Stolphål and persist in studies have found out in the fields. Thanks to Nils Brogren, the village has been saved for posterity. His personal connection to the village, and passion for homeland drove him in 1940-50 century to struggle for survival.
